James Brown’s Body Dismembered Over Paternity Suit

As the James Brown biopic Get On Up continues to profit at the box office, Brown’s widow, Tomi Rae, has spoken out on how Brown’s body had to be dismembered as part of a paternity dispute over her son, James Brown II, who is now 13 years old.

“They couldn’t do the normal DNA test because of all the embalming fluid in his body,” Rae told London’s The Mail on Sunday. “So they had to cut off his legs to get to his bone marrow. I wept uncontrollably when I found out. My husband, the greatest dancer in the world, had his legs hacked off in death.”

Rae also revealed that due to family disagreements, Brown’s body has been moved 14 times since the Godfather of Soul’s death in 2006. Brown’s final resting place is in the garden of his eldest daughter Deanna’s home in Georgia. “That is the final insult to James,” Rae said.
