J-Lo Returning to Television

Actress Jennifer Lopez is headed back to scripted television for the first time since the 90s TV series Second Chances. She will star in and executive produce the new cop drama Shades of Blue for NBC. News of the deal broke on Sunday. The show is slated for 13 episodes and will revolve around the life of a single mother and detective who is recruited into a top-secret FBI anti-corruption task force. Sounds like some pretty meaty stuff for Lopez to sink acting chops into, but does she have what it takes to pull it off? That remains to be seen. Lopez will team up with writer Adi Hasak as executive producer, along with Ryan Seacrest and manager Benny Medina. NBC is considering debuting Shades of Blue during its 2015-2016 TV season.
