LeBron James’ Greatness Is ‘Taken For Granted’

LeBron James has been among the worlds Top 3 most popular athletes for some time now. Hes still considered the NBAs premier player and after a rough start to the year in Cleveland, it seems King James has taken his game to another level, if possible. At an age where most players who came straight out of high school would be slowing down, Bron is turning up on the court and off.

In the absence of a true point guard to lead the show, James has completely embraced the ball distributing duties and in the last two games, he has 30 assists to go along with his 55 points and 20 rebounds. Bron had a career-high 17 dimes on Tuesday in a 123-114 win over the Hawks, which followed a 13-assist performance against the 76ers on Saturday.

LeBron James tied his career high with 17 assists against the Hawks.

However, the daily accolades bestowed upon him dont seem to be enough for some players, analysts and fans. Theres some validity to that. As his performance continues to elevate, his mentions for MVP dissipate. The Kia MVP Ladder has him second to James Harden, one slot above his former teammate Kyrie Irving.

Second place isn’t bad, but it’s been four seasons since LeBron won an MVP and he’s played well enough to win one. However the guy with the NBA’s No. 1 selling jersey has two, and younger stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook rode a popularity campaign to the others.

Hall of Fame guard Isiah Thomas feels that, believe it or not, James is underrated and underappreciated by the NBA community.

His greatness is so taken for granted and the question that Im asking is, ‘Why are we (the former players and NBA TV analysts) taking it for granted? Thomas asked co-hosts Ernie Johnson and Kevin McHale. …what we’re watching…we should appreciate it more. We dont get to see this every night.

You say LeBrons playing well and then you look at the stat sheet and say, Oh my goodness… LeBron James is at a level thats just impossible to achieve” added McHale. “Only a few guys have gotten there or will ever get there. We should stop taking him for granted…We really should talk about him like an MVP candidate all the time.
