Till was accused of making certain comments to a white woman from Mississippi in 1955. He was then taken out of his great-uncle’s home, shot and beaten and his dead body thrown into the Tallahatchie River.

In early 2017, it was revealed that the woman who made that accusation lied about it. With the re-opening of this investigation, maybe Till’s family can one day experience any semblance of justice.
