Good Morning: There’s No Stopping Yasiel Puig

FLASHING LIGHTS

Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails says he's beginning to hear his music from the '90s have influence today, and drew a comparison to Kanye's Yeezus. He was flattered.

"I know [Kanye] a bit," Reznor said. "He's come out to shows and we've had some humorous— I've listened to him talk backstage a few times. I can't say that we had a conversation. I find him an interesting character. Yeezus, I really love it. I think the sound of it is cool. I can't endorse what he's saying lyrically, but I will say that in terms of the role of the dangerous entertainer in 2013, nobody is beating him at that game. It feels like he might implode. Even if it is calculated to some degree, it feels rough on the edges in a way that I can appreciate. I'm glad he's out there. Consistently he's put out ahead-of-the-curve shit. He's definitely a talented guy."

DID YOU REALIZE?

President Obama is heading on a two-week tour to discuss a new plan for how Americans pay for higher education. They haven't revealed what this plan will be, and the following quote sounds like it's going to send conservatives on another tizzy.

“The proposals that the president is going to lay out are not going to be popular with everybody, but they are going to be in the best interests of middle-class families,” said Josh Earnest, a spokesman for Mr. Obama. “The president has some ideas about how we can better align federal assistance with a commitment on behalf of colleges to keep costs low for students.”

Facebook is leading an effort to reduce the cost of the internet worldwide, in order to give access to the approximately 4 billion people who can't afford it.

The immediate goals of the new coalition are to cut the cost of providing mobile Internet services to 1 percent of its current level within five to 10 years by improving the efficiency of Internet networks and mobile phone software. The group also hopes to develop new business models that would allow phone companies to provide simple services like e-mail, search and social networks for little or no charge.

While that sounds far less exciting than, say, Google’s idea of delivering the Internet by balloon, Mr. Zuckerberg says small efforts can add up to big changes.

“No one company can really do this by itself,” he said.

Schools just opened for the beginning of a new school year and there has already been another school shooting. Thankfully, no one was injured.

A man who opened fire at a Georgia elementary school Tuesday was armed with an AK-47 "and a number of other weapons," police said.

The shooter barricaded himself in the school's front office with employees before eventually surrendering to police, DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander told reporters.

No one was injured, authorities said.
