Geno Smith Tagged To Start Jets Opener

Geno Smith has been officially tagged as the New York Jets starting QB. Surprised? I didn’t think so.

"Learning Marty's system, he really did a tremendous job, as did all the quarterbacks," Ryan said of Smith, according to the website.

"I think he really fits the system. He's a guy who is very accurate with the football, he has good mobility in the pocket and he's adjusting to the speed of the game."

The Jets have been trying to find ways to make Smith the starter for weeks, and while his play against the Giants didn’t exactly win him the job, the other option is Sanchez. Enough said. Critics and Jets fans who jumped off the Geno bandwagon after his debut, need to chill. Eli Manning didn’t look like a hall-of-famer during his first few starts, in fact he played even worse than Geno, including a ZERO passer rating during his fourth career start against the Ravens. Geno may not be as talented as Eli, but he deserves to receive a fair chance to prove his worth.
