Frisco RoughRiders To Honor Miss Colombia With Runner Up Night

Steve Harvey messed up and the entire pageant world flipped upside down, but baseball, as it has throughout American history, swoops in and saves the day.

Less than 24 hours after the Miss Universe gaffe that temporarily awarded the crown to the woman who came in second place, a minor league team (The Frisco Roughriders) has announced it will hold a “Runner Up Night” on April 26 and invited both Harvey and Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo, who wore the crown for a few seconds before Harvey unfathomably noted that he read the card incorrectly (Ms. Philippines was the actual winner). According to MLB Network, Miss Colombia will throw out the first pitch on that day.

The Frisco RoughRiders, a Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced Monday that it will also invite other second-place finishers, including the Buffalo Bills of the early ’90s, who went to four straight Super Bowls without winning, as well as Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden, who twice came in second in the Heisman voting, in 2006 and 2007.
