Frank Gore Joins The Dolphins To Finish A Hall Of Fame Career At Home

Frank Gore, one of the greatest and most underappreciated running backs in NFL history, will be headed back to the 305, back to where it all started.

Gore returns to the city of Miami where his star potential was unfortunately hampered by injuries. As a freshman, Gore rushed for 562 yards and five TDs, with a ridiculous 9.1 yards per carry average, but then suffered two devastating knee injuries. Gore battled back to take his talents to the next level, becoming the 65th pick of the San Francisco 49ers. But the third round pick has proved his doubters wrong over his Hall of Fame worthy career spanning a soon to be thirteen years, a career more than double that of a normal running back in the League.

Gore currently sits in 5th place in the list of all time rushers (14,026), 75 yards behind Curtis Martin, and in 7th place in the list of all time yards from scrimmage (17,698), 492 yards behind Barry Sanders. After the Colts decided not to re-sign him, many where upset that his opportunity at moving up was in jeopardy. But as the saying goes, home is where the heart is, so Miami came calling and Gore answered.

With the Dolphins, Gore will be paired with Kenyon Drake, providing much needed experience and guidance for the young back selected in 2016 from Alabama. If Drake was smart, he would pay close attention to Gore, for even his NFL brethren understand just who Gore is and what he brings to the game.

Great move for the Dolphins, one that the Lions might regret missing out on this season.
