For Chris Bosh’s 29th Birthday, Burgulars Stole 340K Worth Of Jewelry From His Home

Athletes have always been easy targets for burglars. Last month, New York Giants defensive tackle Shaun Rogers was foolish enough to store half a million dollars worth of jewelry in a hotel safe and paid the ultimate price. According to NBC Miami, while Miami Heat center Chris Bosh was out celebrating his 29th birthday party, thieves ransacked his home while his children were sleeping.

Police said they got the call about the burglary at 12:30 a.m. Bosh and his wife had left their two children at home with two housekeepers as they celebrated his birthday at Briza on the Bay on Bayshore Drive in Miami. The Moroccan themed party included belly dancers and fire breathers. And a camel named Henri greeted guests. The festivities started at 9 p.m.

When the Boshes got home they realized their closet had been ransacked, police said. No one who was home heard anything, and apparently the thieves handpicked the items they were stealing, police said.

This could have been worse and fortunately the children were left unharmed. Interestingly enough, Bosh's NBA championship ring was untouched. That was a smart move, considering that it would be difficult to pawn off a stolen NBA championship ring in Miami without drawing unwanted attention. From the sound of Miami Beach Police spokesman Bobby Hernandez, this may have been an inside job.
