EPIX’s Schooled Exposes Dark Underbelly of NCAA To Light

Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Taylor Branch has covered the civil rights battle of the 60s and inequality throughout America during his illustrious career. Now Branch has taken up the fight against the NCAA’s restrictive laws on student-athlete compensation. His 2011 investigative piece for The Atlantic, The Shame of College Sports, ignited another surge of prostests in the courts and from former insiders the rights of student-athletes

However, the inequality among student-athletes is explored even further in EPIX's "Schooled: The Price of College Sports".  From the NCAA’s trial without jury judgment on innocent UNC football player Devon Ramsey to Kent Waldrep’s two-decade battle with the NCAA over worker’s comp claims for injured athletes.

The NFL's Arian Foster, NFLPA President, college basketball analyst Jay Bilas, sneaker magnate Sonny Vaccaro, Branch and Walter Byers himself lend their voices and insights to the documentary.

“Schooled: The Price of College Sports” airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on EPIX.  Whether student-athletes deserve more is up to you to decide, but don’t make up your mind until you get schooled for 90 minutes by EPIX.
