ESPN celebrity journalist Jemele Hill, a Detroit native, announced her plans to send Detroit students to the blockbuster earlier this month. The initiative was aimed at students with perfect attendance records.

It was an event Hill organized with the Detroit Free Press, Author and Columnist Rochelle Riley, The Ford Fund, ESPN and Detroit-affiliated rap celebrity Eminem and also featured a surprise appearance by rap star Big Sean

Thank you @BigSean for surprising the students. This meant the world to them. We would not have been able to pull this off without you https://t.co/fw611JPKQJ

The outing inspired the hashtags #BlackPantherFieldTrip and #DetroitSeesBlackPanther.

Joint efforts like this and The Shadow Leagues collaboration with Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz in providing kids a free, enjoyable movie going experience, has elevated Black Panther to mythical status and helped change the face of Hollywood forever.
