Eagles’ Darren Sproles Tears ACL, Breaks Arm And Is Out For 2017

Darren Sproles is one of the most beloved and well respected players in the NFL.

The NFL veteran, who has played for the Chargers, Saints and Eagles, is one of the greatest all-purpose players in League history. In his twelve year career, the three-time Pro Bowler has amassed over 3,300 yards rushing, 4,600 yards receiving and 52 total TDs. As a return man, he has over 11,000 yards and 9 TDs. But his value as a player cannot be measured by stats alone, as his integrity, character and leadership both on and off of the field are what really stands out, which is why today’s news was so devastating to hear.

During the Eagles’ game against the Giants yesterday, Sproles took a hit from a defender, a hit he’s probably taken many times during his long career.

But this hit had devastating results, as we learned today that Sproles both tore his ACL and broke his arm on this one play, effectively ending his season and possibly his career.

Eagles RB Darren Sproles tore his ACL and broke his arm on same play, sources tell @mortreport and me. Surgery on arm today, knee later.

At 34 years old, it might be the last go round for Sproles, especially with two such injuries occurring simultaneously. But let’s hope that he heals up so he can suit up once again next year.
