KD Debacle Is Much Ado About Nothing

What is and is not considered controversial largely depends upon the observer.  Yesterday, Kevin Durant spoke on the so-called controversy spurned by a Twitter post in which he appeared to speak of himself in the third person when addressing a concern by a fan.

Kevin Durant forgets to switch twitter accounts and basically explains why he left OKC.

However, Durant did apologize for the since-deleted post that many feel suddenly reveals the real reason why he left Oklahoma City via free agency to suit up for the Golden State Warriors. In case you didnt know it, my choice of using quotes in the previous sentence to surround the word “suddenly” is meant to be sarcastic.

Why? Because everybody already knew OKC was just KD, Russell Westbrook and very little else.

That was no revelation or controversial hot take. It was what it was.

However, likely because of the manner in which he spoke of his former comrades, Durant did issue an apology.  But, as you may have guessed, the apology has gone over about as well as the actual incident itself.

“I dont regret clapping back at anybody or talking to my fans on Twitter,” he said. “I do regret using my former coachs name and the former organization that I played for. That was childish, that was idiotic, all those types of words. I regret doing that, and I apologize to them for doing that.”

Former teammate and current OKC center Enes Kanter took to Twitter to respond.

And now here we’ll go again, with more news coverage and hot takes around some silliness. If you ask me, this is all much ado about nothing. Wake me when some real news pops off.
