Drake Talks Retirement, Kanye Betrayal With LeBron On ‘The Shop’

On the second episode of the HBO series, Drake tells his side of the GOOD Music Beef.

The second installment of LeBron James’ HBO series ‘The Shop’, Drake stopped by to talk about his feud with rapper Pusha-T, his rift with Kanye West and his plans to retire from Hip-Hop and much more.

During the conversation, Drake finally opened up about his side of the ongoing feud with GOOD Music members. According to Drake, the beef began a little before the release of his album Scorpion and Ye, where he claims Kanye pushed him to reveal details about his fifth studio album. Stating that Kanye gave him the following speech:

“I’m in a great place, I’m making money, and I’m a father, and I wanna be Quincy Jones and help you, but in order to do that, you’ve gotta be transparent with me. And you gotta play me your music, and you gotta tell me when you’re dropping. And I know you don’t like to do things like that.”

Drake later went on to share personal problems with Kanye, even showing him a picture of his then-secret son. Shortly after, details of their conversation were made public. Drake claimed he distanced himself just before the first dis track was released.

Drake noted that he understands the battle side of rap—this is that same guy that went against Meek Mill not too long ago—but the lines were crossed when Noah’s multiple sclerosis and his son were brought into the mix.

Despite having a final response prepared, the rapper revealed that he “listened back to it and I was like, man, this is not something I ever wanna be remembered for.” He admitted that the song was trash but notes it was a genius “chess move” that revealed some damaging facts that came after “research.”

Drake also spoke on his plans to leave the rap game gracefully and how he’s watched other rappers overstay their welcome and how he never wants to be that guy.
