Doug E. Fresh, Kurtis Blow, Cedric the Entertainer and Naughty by Nature are slated to perform at the 15th annual Art for Life gala event for Rush Philanthropic.  Hosted by veteran newswoman Soledad O’Brien, Russell Simmons and Danny Simmons, Art For Life! honors public figures for their philanthropic efforts and career achievements.

This year’s honorees include former New York City mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, prominent businessman Valentino D. Carlotti, music industry executive Jason Flom, fashion designer Kimora Lee Simmons and artist Carrie Mae Weems.  Former View co-host Star Jones will co-chair the event along with Jamison Ernest, Kimberley Hatchett, Rhonda R. Mims, Camilla Olsson and Josue Sejour. Past honorees include director Tyler Perry, actress Vanessa Williams, and Mary J. Blige, among others.

Art For Life’s stated goal is to celebrate the creative energy of New York City’s youth.  Founded in 1995 by brothers Russell Simmons, Danny Simmons and Rev Run, Art For Life! seeks to fill the gap that the disenfranchised and people of color face in accessing the arts.  The gala affair will be attended by some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry and take place on Saturday July 26th at Fairview Farms in Bridgehampton, Long Island.

“This year marks our 15th Annual Art For Life!,” said Russell Simmons via press release. “With the ongoing generous support of our sponsors, patrons and friends, Rush Philanthropic will continue to provide art education opportunities for even more youth and enrich the cultural landscape of our city. We hope to have your support at Art For Life this year! See you on July 26th!”
