Dolphins fire Joe Philbin after disappointing start

The Miami Dolphins have fired their head coach Joe Philbin, one day after losing to the New York Jets at Wembley Stadium in London.

After signing Ndamukong Suh to the richest contract in NFL history and resigning quaterback Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphins were expected to contend for a spot in the playoffs this season. Instead, they’ve dropped to (1-3) after Sunday’s 27-14 loss, a game in which they played poorly on both sides of the ball. The Dolphins are last in the NFL in rush yards allowed, and second to last in points per game.

Philbin held a 24-28 record over three seasons and became the NFL’s first head coach to lose their job this season. Dave Williams was named interim head coach.
