Did Ben Carson Really Refer To Slaves As Immigrants?

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson came under fire today as he referred to slaves as “immigrants” while speaking Monday to department employees.

“That’s what America is about, a land of dreams and opportunity,” Carson said. “There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less.”

Maybe Carson misspoke. He has to know the difference between slaves, who were torn from their families, brutalized and sold as cattle and immigrants who willingly came to this country to seek a better life. But based upon some of the things he has said in the past, we can only shake our heads.

Social Media didnt give him too much of a reprieve for the gaffe in his first address in his new prominent role as Trumps Urban Savior. The amount of people bashing Carson on social media exceeded the people who supported him and commended him even more for the apology of sorts that he offered on the Facebook page that he shares with his wife Candy Carson.

Carson clarified his statements on his Twitter and his Facebook page as well as in a Television interview on the Armstrong Williams Show on Monday

Doubt that explanation is going to work for the masses who caught his ridiculous and embarrassing statement.

Sounds like Carson needs a serious lesson in history, particularly American.
