Derek Jeter Will Remain In New York’s Nursing Home Until The All Star Break

Derek Jeter injured his ankle during last season's MLB playoffs, and recently told reporters he was eyeing a May 1st return. It appears he pulled a John King and got a bit ahead of himself, as Brian Cashman told ESPN that Jeter would be sidelined until the summer.

Derek Jeter had a CT scan of his injured ankle on Thursday that revealed a small crack, delaying the All-Star shortstop's return to the New York Yankees until at least midseason.

"We're looking at, in terms of speculation when Derek Jeter will be back with us, sometime after the All-Star break," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said.

That's a long time to go without The Captain, but the Yankees are staying afloat despite missing Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira in addition to Jeter. We'll see if that remains possible in the vaunted AL East.
