Closing Time: KD’s Game 3 Performance Puts The Dubs In Rare Company

Game 3 of the 2018 NBA Finals was the moment that Kevin Durant reminded everyone why he was the NBA Finals MVP last season and why he had in-the-moment fans anointing him as the best hooper in the game last season.

The social media mill changes every 24-hours along with heated opinions about who the world’s best basketball player is. LeBron Jameshas owned the playoffs with his offensive barrages and Steph Currys aerial daggers have him contending to win some postseason accolades of his own.

Durants been putting points on the board this entire postseason, but hes been very quiet in doing so but you knew it was only a matter of time before the four-time scoring champ exploded. On Wednesday night, Durant officially entered the elite fray with a playoff career-high 43-point scoring performance that elevated Golden State to a 110-102 win over LeBron and the Cavs and moved Dub Nation one game closer to capturing Golden State’s third NBA championship in four years.

It was the first time this series that Durant stepped out of LeBrons shadow, captivated the crowd like Chef Curry and established himself as the best player on the court.

The NBA Finals is basically a wrap and with the same result that we all predicted back when the season started. Golden State was the superior team and the fact that they are on the verge of defeating Cleveland in four games isnt shocking in the least.

The fact that Durant dropped a career playoff-high isn’t surprising to anyone. Hes one of the many weapons Golden State has and an example of why they are so tough to beat. On a night when no other starter had more than Steph Currys 11 points, six Dub Nation players scored in double figures and Durant finally seemed to be comfortable in his own skin on the court.

Golden State doesnt have any pressure on them entering Game 4. More than anything, the game will serve as the final showdown between Curry and Durant for who locks down Finals MVP.
