Chris Rock Casts Kevin Hart As His Agent In Upcoming Film

Despite hosting Saturday Night Live and following in Chris Rock's footsteps as the new king of live stand-up, Kevin Hart hasn't experienced similar mainstream success. Rock and Kevin Hart co-starred in 2010's Death At A Funeral, but that was the extent of their on-screen collaborations until recently. Rock has cast his young stand-up prodigy in a significant role for his upcoming film Finally Famous.

Hart will cameo outside his comfort zone as Rock's Ivy League-educated agent while Rock basically plays himself with a twist as a comedian turned dramatic actor prepping to marry his reality television star girlfriend (Gabrielle Union) on her reality television show. Hart will star alongside J.B. Smoover, Sherri Shepard and Rosario Dawson, playing a journalist profiling Rock's character for a New York magazine.

Via The Wrap:

Scott Rudin and Eli Bush are producing Rock's movie, which Barry Diller is financing. Rock wrote and will direct the New York-set film, his third behind the camera following "Head of State" and "I Think I Love My Wife."

Hart could be the hardest-working actor in Hollywood at the moment, which may be why he only has time to cameo in Rock's movie. Currently appearing in "This Is the End," he also stars in the upcoming concert film "Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain." Additionally, Hart has wrapped Universal's "Ride Along" with Ice Cube, WB's "Grudge Match" with Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro, and Screen Gems' remake of "About Last Night." Hart, who recently signed on to star opposite Josh Gad in an untitled buddy comedy, is repped by UTA and 3 Arts Entertainment.
