Chris Johnson Still Thinks He Can Break Eric Dickerson’s Record

From the outside looking in, Chris Johnson hasn't live up to expectations since he ran for over 2,000 yards in 2009. Since then, he's peeled off seasons of 1,364, 1,047, and 1,243 yards. Those are big numbers for most running backs, but CJ set himself above most running backs when he took a shot at Eric Dickerson's single-season mark.

That mark is still on his mind, no matter what doubters think. Johnson's numbers have dipped, but he has also switched offensive coordinators and head coaches multiple times during his tenure with the Tennessee Titans, while dealing with injuries and a severely-depleted offensive line.

So when asked if he can break Dickerson's record, Johnson replied, "Yeah, I think I can." Of course he did. It's certainly possible expectations have caused media members and fans to paint Johnson in a lesser light, and his ability may have been shrouded by other factors. Or, he's lost a step. Either way, Johnson is confident it's the former, and that's a good mindset for an NFL running back to have.
