50 years ago today, Bob Arum stepped into the ring of boxing promotions in Toronto, Canada. The fight was Muhammad Ali vs. George Chuvalo for the heavyweight championship of the world and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of his first promotion and, through the special video below, Top Rank joins the world of boxing in honoring a storied career of promoting legendary fighters such as Ali, Hearns, Hagler, Sugar Ray, Chavez, Arguello, Duran, Tapia, Bradley, Pacquiao and many, many more.

Per the release:

In a career that has spanned six decades, Bob has presented world championship events on every continent other than Antarctica.  And to paraphrase the slogan from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Bob has promoted “more stars than there are in heaven.”  The names read like a who’s who for the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Congrats Mr. Arum!
