Bulls Drop 70 Wins On The League

April 16, 1996 – It was as near a perfect season as a basketball team has ever had. In the end, the Bulls would finish 72-10 and win the title, but on this night they put the mark in the book that says "Best Team of All Time." With an 86-80 win over the Bucks, the Bulls notched their 70th win of the 82-game season, surpassing the mark of 69-13 set by the 1971-72 Lakers.

"I'm glad it's over with," said Michael Jordan, who finished with 22 points.  "We didn't start out the season to win 70 games.  We started out the season to win the championship, and that's still our motivation."

The Bulls were pushed along by the Milwaukee crowd of 18,633, which was a sellout in more ways than one.  Said Milwaukee coach Mike Dunleavy: "It can be a little disheartening when you have almost as many people cheering for the opposing team."
