Big Secrets Are Revealed as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Syncs with Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Back when Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. first debuted on ABC, fans were immediately anticipating the possibility that the show would tie in to the popular Marvel film franchise that features The Avengers and the recently released Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  There was a tie in of sorts between Thor: The Dark World and the television show, but many fans felt that it wasn't big enough.

However, with the revelation in Winter Soldier of S.H.I.E.L.D’s true nature as a haven for double agents from the terrorist organization Hydra, the dynamic of the show is forever changed.  Now Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), Skye (Chloe Bennet) and company must decide who they can trust and who in their midst is a turncoat. Couple that with the evermore dangerous notion of alien technology proliferating throughout the television show, and we now see a series that has been dramatically changed by events that occurred in Captain America 2. The revelation of Agent Ward (Brett Dalton) as a Hydra double-agent was a shocking revelation as well.

For Marvel, this film-television symbiotic relationship is unprecedented. The allegiance of Agent May, played by Ming-Na Wen, is revealed and this season is shaping up to be far less insular and predictable than it initially began. Finally the viewer feels like the Marvel Universe of TV is actually a part of the Marvel World of film. The season finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is May 13, but we’re sure to see many other secrets revealed between now and then.
