Barry Sanders Helps Detroit Lions Pull Off The Madden Cover Repeat

For the 25th anniversary of the Madden video game series, EA Sports included legends of the past in their fan voting, and pitted them against the NFL's top 32 current stars. Ultimately, the fan voting whittled down the legends and current candidates to Adrian Peterson versus Barry Sanders.

Sanders compiled 58 percent of the 700,000 votes to earn the Madden cover. The Lions haven't won much in their franchise history, but Sanders would be the second player to win the Madden cover voting after Calvin Johnson won last year.

Fortunately, for Sanders the "Madden Curse" is untested on retired players. When the game is released in August, there may be a new console to go with it.
