Andre Berto is Back Like He Never Left

Andre Berto is back on his bully.

After losing his first bout to Victor Ortiz in 2011 then Robert Guerrero in 2012 and Jesus Soto Karass in 2013, many counted the former WBC welterweight champion out. Then he stunned with a beautiful sixth round knockout of Josesito Lopez in 2015, winning the WBA welterweight title. This put him in the running for the Mayweather opponent sweepstakes and with some luck and maneuvering by the man who runs boxing and both of their careers, Berto fought TBE to a respectable unanimous decision loss.

But the thorn in his side in the form of his first loss to Victor Ortiz remained. So Berto took the step to finally remove it, which he did by knocking out Ortiz in the fourth round in their April 2016 rematch, elevating his name again and setting up this fight against the always dangerous and ready Showtime Shawn Porter on Saturday night.
