ABC Cancels Roseanne Reboot After Racist Ape Tweet Towards Black Woman

On Tuesday afternoon, ABC canceled Roseanne Barr’s show ‘Roseanne’ after she compared former Obama aide, Valerie Jarrett, a Black woman, to an ape.

ABC reportedly canceled a Blackish episode centered on Colin Kaepernick’s protest and Rosanne Barr is out here calling Black people monkeys on Twitter.

In a statement, ABC said, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

ABC has canceled #Roseanne.

But statements like these are nothing new and ABC knew what they were doing and what audience they were appealing to when they signed up for this reboot in the first place. The irony of the situation that ABC put themselves in isn’t lost on us, considering how this is the same network that reportedly scrapped a Black-ish episode that discussed Colin Kaepernick’s protest.

Among many other things, Roseanne compared another Obama aide, Susan Rice, to an ape in 2013.
