12 Years A Slave, Fruitvale Station Excluded From WGA Awards

If you have been paying attention then you might think the movies 12 Years A Slave and Fruitvale Station were written particularly well. Despite that, the Writers Guild of America decided to leave the films off their list of nominees for the WGA Awards. But don't worry. It didn't have anything to with the movies' content being of a controversial nature. In fact, the films were among 95 scripts that were left off the list. The guild has rather stringent rules that require scripts be produced under WGA jurisdiction – a longstanding practice of the guild.  Other notable offerings left out in the cold were 42, A Haunted House, Short Term 12, The World's End and Rush.
