LeBron James Wins Another MVP Award

Three out of the last four springs we've been reminded that it's LeBron James and then, it's everybody else. Yesterday the Heat forward was awarded the '12-'13 MVP Award and with it, joined some truly illustrious company. The only other players to win at least four MVPs includes Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell and Michael Jordan.

James had this award wrapped up right around the start of the new year, so there isn’t anyone surprised. The only thing left to discuss, is how is it, that he didn’t win it unanimously. James won 120 out of 121 first-place votes, with the lone dissenting voter going with Carmelo Anthony. No doubt, ‘Melo had a tremendous season, but to vote in his favor only seems contrarian at this point. Apparently someone has an agenda, only question is who and what?

From USA Today:

James did not lead the league in any major category, but he led the league in all-around play, averaging 26.8 points, eight rebounds and 7.3 assists while shooting a career-high 56.5% from the field. He is the only player in NBA history, according to basketball-reference, to average at least 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists and shot at least 56% from the field.

He also averaged 1.7 steals and shot a career-high 40.3% on three-pointers, leading the Heat to the league's best record at 66-16.
