TSL Sports Talk Recap: Carl Banks

Today on TSL Sports Talk, former NY Giants linebacker, Carl Banks, joined us to talk about his NFL career and transition from athlete to sportscaster and businessman. TSL Sports Talk host Mark Gray, opened up the discussion by talking to Banks about the NFC East. Gray touched on how the NFC East was arguably the best division in the NFL when he was growing up. In contrast, the NFC East now seems to be one of the worst divisions in the NFL.

Banks on the NFC East:

Well, I think there are a few things that happened. You had a lot of transitioning in coaching and there are some teams, quite frankly, that are rebuilding. If you look at the Redskins -who was a juggernaut in the NFC East- they were always going to be at the top-either first or second. When you go through quarterback transition, it is literally a 10-year proposition because you get a guy in and you have to wait three years to really be sold on if he can play. Then, if you can’t, you have to bring in another guy in and wait another three years. By that time, you got a new coach and a new system in place. So you literally waste 10 years of your franchise if you don’t find the right quarterback.
