The Highest Paid Coaches  in NCAA Football

The salaries for NCAA football head coaches have been announced and there is no real surprise who the number one earner is on this list. Nick Saban, head coach of SEC powerhouse Alabama, (9-1) earns $7 million plus a year.

Mark Dantonio, Bob Stoops, Kevin Sumlin, and Charlie Strong are all coaches  who make 5 million plus a year. Michigan State (8-2) coach, Mark Dantonio is known for entering his tenure as head coach in 2006 by retooling Michigan States spread offense and also winning 2013’s Big Ten Coach of the Year award.

Oklahoma (7-3) head coach Bob Stoops is the only coach since the creation of the BCS to win the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and the Sugar Bowl. Stoops has led the Sooners to eight Big Ten Championships; more than any other Big 12 team. Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin, who coached polarizing quarterback Johnny Manziel as well as made the Aggies the first SEC team in history to  gain over 7,000 total yards.

Texas (6-5) head coach Charlie Strong rounds out the list of highest paid coaches. Strong is the first black head coach in Texas history and the only black head coach in the Big 12 Conference. College head coaches are making more and more every year. Expect to see this trend continue to grow as schools continue the battle to keep their coaches out of the NFL.
