Ray McDonald, former 49er, indicted on rape charge

Former San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald has been indicted on one count of rape of an intoxicated person stemming from an incident that occurred on December 15th of last year at McDonald’s home.

Not only is McDonald in trouble, current 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks has also been charged for his involvement in the same incident. In a civil lawsuit filed by the woman and her attorney in May, she claimed that Brooks groped her while she was unconscious at McDonald’s home.

The woman says she slipped and fell on a pool deck, hurting her head in the process. She continued to fall due to the head injury, coupled with alcohol that had been consumed previously, and eventually became unconscious. McDonald reportedly thought she was dead, but didn’t call the police citing that he “didnt want a dead female found on his property”.

Shortly after, Brooks reportedly groped the woman before McDonald carried her upstairs to his bedroom and sexually assaulted her.

The 49ers released a statement on Brooks after sending him home from Denver, Colorado preseason workouts.

“The organization is aware that a misdemeanor charge has been filed against Ahmad Brooks stemming from a December 2014 matter. We take any charge against a member of this organization seriously and are in communication with the NFL,” says 49ers general manager Trent Baalke.

In regards to McDonald, he has a storied history of legal issues. The 49ers released him in December citing a “pattern of poor decision-making” after multiple run-ins with the law from incidents involving restraining order violations and domestic violence allegations.
