Poetic Justise Signs With Roc Nation

Jay Z continues to prove that he is an American brand that speaks for itself. Since launching his burgeoning and game-changing entertainment company Roc Nation, top athletes have joined forces with one of hip-hops all-time greats.

Most agents have to chase guys around and convince the player of why he should sign, but the allure of working in some capacity and sharing your money with one of Brooklyns Dons seems to be overwhelming for most athletes and they are lined up at the door to sign with Roc Nation.

Since securing Robinson Cano that record $240 million contract with the Mariners, Roc Nation has been hotter than fish grease when it comes to securing highly-marketable, young, Grade A clients.

Duke standout Justise Winslow became the latest high-profile member of the 2015 NBA draft class to sign with Roc Nation. Roc Nation Sports confirmed the newest addition Tuesday on social media:

Kentucky big man Willie Cauley-Stein signed with the group last week. Kevin Durant, Dez Bryant and WNBA star Skylar Diggins are among the other big-balling clients adorning Roc Nations impressive roster.

Jay Z is definitely running RN like a well-oiled, coveted record label. Hes getting all of the best artists/athletes and making his company the label that everyone wants to be on. Roc Nation Sports is becoming the Def Jam Records of 2015.

When Russell Simmons or Lyor Cohen called you and said they wanted you on Def Jam, there wasn’t much for an artist to think about.

According to Diggins, it’s the same with Jay Z.

We just talked for 20 minutes, she told USA Today. He was the most down-to-earth guy ever it didnt take a lot. He didnt have to convince me. Everything he touches turns to gold and it was a lot of talk about Roc Nation and him joining the sports agency sector.

Like I said how do you say no to that?

Those Roc Nation client parties must be off the chain. Sort of like Winslows play this season in helping Duke win yet another NCAA Title. He was third on the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game, but his pro-ready defensive prowess helped fuel the unexpected title run. Looking toward the draft, he’s a top-10 prospect.

He reminds me a bit of Iman Shumpert from the Cavaliers in that while he may never become an elite scorer, he should be a reliable offensive contributor and a player capable of defending an opponent’s top perimeter option. A successful NCAA tourney has seen Winslows name trend on social media more often.

The Blue Devils defeated the Wisconsin Badgers 68 to 63 to secure the 2015 NCAA Championship. Winslow notched 11 points and nine rebounds in the game. Roc Nation is sure to capitalize on the buzz that still exists around March Madness and leading up to the NBA Draft in June.
