Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota Declares For the NFL Draft

After the Ducks were beaten by the Buckeyes in the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship, the biggest question looming was whether Oregon's star QB, Marcus Mariota, would come back for another year. Today, that question was answered.

Mariota released a statement announing that he was declaring for the 2015 NFL Draft:

"After meeting with my family I have decided to forego my final year of eligibility and apply for the 2015 NFL Draft. My four years at the University of Oregon have been an awesome experience. I cannot thank Coach Kelly, Coach Helfrich, Coach Frost, the rest of the Oregon coaches and the support staff enough for molding me as as person, player and student-athlete."

"The support I received from the University, the city of Eugene and Duck fans has been tremendous. I will always remember the great time and support I received. Once a Duck always a Duck."

Mariota finishes his three year career at Oregon with 10,976 yards passing, 2,237 yards rushing, 136 total touchdowns and a 36-5 record as a starter. He is projected as the top prospect by many publications including CBS Sports.
