Oklahoma Sooner’s Samaje Perine Runs For NCAA Record 427 Yards

As the rain poured down in Memorial Stadium, Sooners' freshman Samaje Perine gashed Kansas for 427 yards and 5 touchdowns, breaking the NCAA record for rushing yards in a game (408) set just a week ago by Wisconsin's Melivin Gordon. The Sooners would go onto beat the Jayhawks 44-7. After the final snap, fans celebrated his accomplishments by chanting his name and his fellow Sooners put him on their shoulders.

Teammates were excited to see such a humble player have such a memorable day, especially a freshman who is just beginning his career at the school. Perine's day had addition significance as his first touchdown of the day tied Adrian Peterson’s school record of 15.

Not a bad way to begin a college career.
