Michael Sam Records First Preseason Sack

Michael Sam's been through the ringer in the months since he came out as a gay man. An underwhelming combine helped contribute to his nosediving stock, but the moment every defensive lineman dreams  about when used a dip move to beat offensive lineman Derek Sherrod before diving for Matt Flyn's legs as he backpedaled away from Sam.

Sam still has a long ways to go before making the team. His coverage skills must improve and thereare more cut days ahead, but if there's one thing coaches know about the SEC's reigning Defensive Player of the Year, it's that he can sack the quarterback. One thing Sam does have going for him is that in a league where quarterbacks have their way with defenses, the value of cornerbacks and pass rushers has never been higher.
