Mark Emmert Will Testify In O’Bannon Trial

Mark Emmert has been silent about the legal proceedings of the NCAA v. Ed O’Bannon’s class action lawsuit, but the NCAA President may not have the option to remain silent much longer.

According to sources familiar with Emmert's plans, he will be testifying in court as an expert witness on Thursday. The news was confirmed on Monday night by Emmert himself at a Collegiate Commissioners Association's meeting reception in Laguna Niguel, Calif.

Emmert's testimony will be one of the most anticipated moments of the trial and arguably the most dreaded moment of his tumultuous four-year tenure as NCAA president. Emmert’s testimony could last longer then one day—but hopefully not as long as the 11 hours economic expert Roger Noll’s marathon session on the stand against the NCAA.
