Everett Golson named starter for the Florida State Seminoles

Its official.

Seminoles’ head coach Jimbo Fisher announced that newly minted Seminole, Everett Golson, would be the starting quarterback going into the season opener against Texas State this Saturday.

Golsen, who transferred to the Seminoles this May from Notre Dame, beat out junior Sean Maguire whose resume just didnt match up with the former Fighting Irish QB who completed 60% of his passes with a total of 3,445 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Golson led the Fighting Irish to the BCS National Championship Game as a redshirt freshman. He sat out all of 2013 due to an academic suspension and graduated from Notre Dame in May, enablng him to play out his final year of eligibility anywhere of his choice.

Jameis Winston left some pretty big shoes to fill; hopefully Golson can step up to the challenge.
