Evan Gattis Closing In On Atlanta Braves Franchise Record

While B.J. Upton and Jason Heyward have been slow out of the gates this season, Evan Gattis aka El Oso Blanco has emerged as Atlanta's hottest hitters. The bearded 27-year-old looks like a Major League veteran, but in reality he's just 50 games into his MLB career, but is already a two-time National League Rookie of the Month.

After quitting baseball for a few years, Gattis worked a few odd jobs and fought suicidal thoughts, Gattis has finally made his mark on the game. Right now, his bat is scorching hot. On Monday night, Gattis hit his 14th home run of the season and fourth pinch-hit home run of the season and is now just one shy of the franchise-record. Gattis isn't done yet.

The Braves lost 7-6 to the Padres, despite homers from Gattis and Heyward, but the Braves remain in first place atop the NL East.
