Chadwick Boseman Will Play The Black Panther In Upcoming Marvel Movies

Fans of the comic book hero have been waiting and waiting, and now it's finally here….almost.

Today Marvel announced that Chadwick Boseman will be playing the wildly popular Black Panther, starting in the studio's "Captain America: Civil War" movie slated to be released in theatres on May 6th, 2016. A year later, Chadwick will star in a solo flim, "Black Panther" on November 3rd, 2017.

At a presentation for Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Boseman stated, "I’m blessed to be a part of this Marvel Universe, and to work with you both, and I look forward to making magic together,” Boseman said after taking the stage with both Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man) and Chris Evans (Captain America)."

Boseman continues his streak of playing iconic black figures; first Jackie Robinson, then James Brown. Now he moves to a superhero, one with great cultural significance and meaning. But if his past success is an indication of the future, T'Challa, Wakanda and fans are in great hands.
