Black Mamba Slithers Past MJ

Kobe Bryant has passed Michael Jordan on the all time scoring list right behind Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Karl Malone. He passed Jordan with a free throw in the second quarter during a win against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jordan released this statement, "I congratulate Kobe on reaching this milestone. He's obviously a great player, with a strong work ethic and has an equally strong passion for the game of basketball. I've enjoyed watching his game evolve over the years, and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next."

Kobe was humbled by the achievement and Jordan's words stating that "he knows how much I've learned from him". It has taken Kobe 1,269 games to pass Jordan on the all time scoring list while Jordan only needed 1,039. Both players are living legends however Bryant came around a different time in the NBA and as Jordan was on his way out, Kobe flourished. With the Bulls Jordan won six championships, Kobe has won 5.
