Amar’e Stoudemire Reportedly Done With Knicks

According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, the New York Knicks and Amar’e Stoudemire have reached an agreement to buy the power forward out of his contract and make his a free agent.

Stoudemire is averaging 12.0 points and 6.8 rebounds this season with the Knicks. He will now be free to sign with another team, especially a playoff contender, this season. Knicks fans will always respect Amar’e for being the first, and really only, free agent player to sign with the Knicks back in 2010, making the All Star team as a starter during that season. But after the All Star game, things started to go downhill for Stoudemire, especially once Carmelo Anthony was acquired. A sweep by Boston in the first round of the playoffs, the fire extinguisher incident and a host of ailments and injuries all plagued his career in the Big Apple, but now it looks like he might return west, with the Clippers and Suns expressing interesting in Amar’e.
